Here is the final part of our blogs about translucent vinyl printing and illumiated sign.

As you read in part 1, we discussed the problem of faded and washed out images on typical translucent vinyl prints. Now we will give you the solutions.

Translucent vinyl is one of the most difficult media’s to get correct. The printing itself isn’t difficult, however making the backlit sign look good when it's lit is the hard part. Most major brands make a translucent printable media:  3M, Avery, Oracal, just to name a few. Here at Resource 4 Signs, we use Oracal 3850 and have gotten great results.

We are going to teach you all about channel letter signs. You will learn the differences between individual mounting versus raceway mounting. We will also explain front lit, reverse lit, front/back lit, and push through channel letters. In addition, we will differenciate between LED, Neon and Florescent lamps when lighting channel letters. Lastly, we will show you how we can make channel letters and logo channel letters.

As time goes by things change, and logos and signs are no different. The interesting thing with a company logo is it’s usually designed to fit the times. A logo created a century ago would look different from a logo of today, and companies tend to update their logos with the changing times. Here is an example of several companies with their old and new logos.

Mark Friedman, DDS contacted us about an illuminated lobby sign for his new office in Encino. We custom made a 12" x 54" office lobby sign for them. We made a brushed aluminum face with 1" blue aluminum returns, a 3/16" white acrylic backer and a 1/2" blue acrylic push-thru bar. The black acrylic dimensional letters were then mounted to the brushed aluminum face. We used blue LEDs to light the push-thru bar and white LEDs to give the rest of the sign a halo effect.

Logos are the face of a company. Its on their products, buildings, business cards, letter head, business signs; anywhere you see a company name, a logo is most likely associated with it. Therefore, it would behoove any company to make sure their logo is looking its best.
