Custom Boat Wraps | 1973 Tahiti Jet Boat

This project was for a 1973 Tahiti Jet boat that needed a complete overhaul. The original graphics were bright blue metallic with old school flames and tagged with the name “Funky Divas”. Needless to say, neither the name nor the look was too fitting for its new owner. The goal of this custom boat wrap was to make this old boat look new again, but this time, make it look mean, and badass.
The first we tackled was the design. The basic idea was to have skulls and give it a new name: Sinister. The rest was up to our imagination. The design was primarily done in Adobe Photoshop, since most of the graphic was composed of images of skulls, which were heavily edited to look dark and mean. Our customer loved the design! He said is was exactly what he wanted.
Once the initial design was approved it was on to the installation. The material we used was Avery MPI1005 SuperCast vinyl with the matching Avery laminate. It printed very crisp and installed like a champ. One thing we needed to keep in mind was the intense heat it would be facing in the hot Arizona heat, and since the graphic was mostly black there could be potential problems. We ensured proper installation because any spot that could lift, would most likely lift, so all curves and corners were given extra attention and every inch properly post heated. The bottom of the boat we wrapped in Avery Metallic Black wrapping film. This product was very impressive and took to the boat extremely well. The top and bottom halves of the boat joined at the middle of the boat and covered with the rubber trim all around, which made a perfect spot and looked like a seamless install.
Once the boat made a few trips out we took another look around to make sure everything was still in place, and as expected, it was. The use of laminate strips along all seams and cut lines gave us extra confidence that everything will stay put.
We were very proud of the final product, as was the owner, and this boat definitely turns heads both on and off the water.
